Hi....
Fragmentation occurs on a hard drive, a memory module, or other media when data is not written closely enough physically on the drive. Those fragmented, individual pieces of data are referred to generally as fragments.
uses:
Reproduction by budding does not occur, although spontaneous fragmentation of the body, followed by complete regeneration of each of the pieces, is known to take place.
In some filamentous forms this " fragmentation " into multicellular pieces of equal length or nearly so is a normal phenomenon, each partial filament repeat s ing the growth, division
hope this will help u .... :-)

An organism which divides itself from parental organism to form a independent daughter cell and grows into a totally developed organism is known as fragmentation.
Examples of fragmentation are algae, fungi, spirogyra.
( or )
1.Some of the organisms can grow from a single piece of the parent organism. This fragment can be from any part of the body .
2.When organism grows fully it is broken down into two or three fragments (pieces). Each fragment develops into new individuals.
3.It occurs in spirogyra.
4.The filamaentous structure breakup into two or more fragments.
5.Each fragment grows to form a complete organism.
EXAMPLES: Algae,Fungi,Spirogyra
