In Newtonian physics, free fall is any motion of a body where gravity is the only force acting upon it. ... Thus, falling through an atmosphere without a deployed parachute, or lifting device, is also often referred to as free fall.

acceleration of an object freely falling towards the earth doesn't depends on mass of object. During free fall, heavier as well as light objects acceleration same rate .. when an object fells on the ground under the action of earth gravity it's velocity increases at rate of 9.8m/s
