Fragmentation:

• It is a method of asexual reproduction, which is also known as splitting.

• This method does involve only one parent.

• The parent cell cuts into 2 or more individuals.

• The new individual is known as a 'daughter cell'.

• These daughter cells take at least 15 days to grow completely and become a matured individual.

• These does not only take place in animals or other unicellular organisms but also plants.

• Budding is similar to Fragmentation.

• These animals which reproduce through Fragmentation involves Regeneration.

• Example: Planaria. (refer image).
