French revolution is the protest movement made by the French people.

It continued for many years. When Louis 16 took the crown the France suffered a lot.

At that time, The French people were divided into three estates. Clergy ,Nobles and common people. clergy means the members of the Church. Nobles means landlords, kings and other rulers. The members of the third estate only should have to pay the taxes but the nobles and the clergys doesn't used to pay the taxes and enjoyed all the facilities France frequently used to participate in the wars. The people suffered a lot. They protested against the King. Treaty of Versailles has been held. People also took an oath in a tennis court. Finally they get rid of the monarchy.

The Reign of Terror was the darkest period of the French revolution which was ruled by Robespierre. The reign of Terror lasted from 1793 to 1794.He wanted to stamp out any position and gave very strict punishments and finally he was guillotined.

After the Reign of terror Napoleon Bonaparte ruled France. After his rule over the France many political clubs emerged like the Jacobian club, pantheon club, etc.

This French revolution came to an end and a new society was formed which gives more preference to equality, liberty, fraternity, etc.

France got independence on 14th July,1789. A draft constitution came into existence in 1791.
