It has been seen after examining rainfall and floods of the period 1986–1999 that although variation of monsoon rainfall magnitudes received by these two basins differ considerably in each monsoon season, but by and large, the frequency of floods at their terminal gauge/discharge (G/D) sites at Dhubri and Farakka do not differ very much from each other.
