friction is the reason why you can walk or a car engine works or a the fire is discovered by human. Friction for macroscopic object can be defined be F(frictional force) = m*f. m is a constant and f is the force normal to the relative motion of two object.the m is called coefficient of static friction. Its not a universal constant. let our hands as a example of two bodies. When we rub our hands there is a relative motion. and how much we create pressure in the contact line of touch of two hands it is considered as the normal force to the relative motion. then if the coefficient of static friction is m and f is the normal force then the frictional force = mf . and its direction is opposite to the relative motion as its resist the relative motion to happen.
