Friction or frictional force is the resistance to motion that occurs between two bodies in contact.
The factors affecting friction are-
1. Roughness of the bodies in contact.
2. Material of the bodies.
3. Weight of the body in motion.
Some examples explaining friction are-
1. We can walk because of friction between our feet and the ground. As we push backward, the ground pushes us forward and we move.
2. A chair pushed across the room is another example. If there was no friction the chair would never stop moving (neglecting air resistance and other forces).
