What is friction why is it caused explain any three ways by which friction can be reduced?

Sliding or rolling?

Basically, 1) polish the surfaces involved to reduce roughness and thus friction. 2) use a lubricant or a slippery surface (e.g. teflon)to reduce the surface friction . 3) Roll in stead of slide, e.g. use ball bearings instead of slip bearings. If you want to get fancy, don’t slide at all and levitate using air pressure or magnetic fields.
