  • It is normally called as friction.
  • Friction always oppose the relative motion or tendency of relative motion between two contact surfaces.
  • Friction force is the component of net contact force tangential or parallel to surface .
  • Direction of friction is always tangential to surface.

THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF FRICTION

  1. Static friction (fs)
  • It is act when there is no relative motion between contact surface or body is at rest.
  • Magnitude and direction of static friction is self adjusting.

2.Limiting friction (fl)

  • Body is just begin to slide (J.B.T.S).
  • Minimum force required to slide the body.
  • Maximum value of static friction.

3.Kinetic / Sliding friction (fk)

  • There is relative motion between contact surface of body is in motion.
