The full form of A.P is Arithmetic Progression.

To be called any series as a A.P. their common difference should be equal.

That's, Term2 - Term1 = Term3 - Term2 = Term4 - Term3 and so on.

Some important formulas of A.P.,

1. Common difference = Nth term - ( N - 1 )th term

2. Nth term = First term + ( No. of terms - 1 ) common differnce.

3. Sum of N terms = N/2 ( First term + Last term )

 = N/2 { First term + First term + ( N -1 ) common difference }

= N/2 ( 2 First term + ( N -1 ) common difference ).

Abbreviation used in an A.P.

First term = a

Common difference = d

Last term = l.

No. of terms = n.
