The full form of NEWP  is New Executive Programming Language. This is a high-level programming language, used to write an operating system and other system utilities,  is exclusively applicable on the Unisys MCP systems.

The language can also be used to write user software as well. It is based on extended ALGOL although several constructs separate it from the same. MEMORY, a language operator that allow direct memory access is only used by programs running as the MCP.
