Question:-

  • what are the functions of breathing and passage of air??

Answer:-

functions of breathing are:-

  • the process by which organisms take in Air rich in oxygen and give out air rich in carbon dioxide is called breathing. it is continuous process which takes place till an orgnanism is alive.
  • the process of taking air is called inhalation while giving out air is called exhalation.
  • one breath constitues inhalation and one exhalation.
  • breathing rate is the number of times a person breathes in one minute. at rest, a normal person breathes 15-18. times in a minute..

functions for passage of air:-

  • Air enters our body through two holes in the nose called nostrils and nasal cavity to the wind pipe or trachea.
  • from the trachea, the air passes into two small tubes called bronchi, (singular=bronchi)
  • each bronchus enters into a lung, inside the lungs, each bronchus divides into a large number of small tubes called brochioles.
  • at the end of each bronchide, tiny air sacs are present which are called alveoli .the walls of the alveoli have a large number of thin blood capillaries through which exchange of gases takes place.

Summary:-

  • All living things respire to produce energy.
  • Living organisms respire aerobically or anaeorbically.

Answer:

Through breathing, inhalation and exhalation, the respiratory system facilitates the exchange of gases between the air and the blood and between the blood and the body's cells. The respiratory system also helps us to smell and create sound. The following are the five key functions of the respiratory system.
