Gemmule formation/endogenous budding found in freshwater sponge like spongilla during unfavourable condition. onthe onset of favourable conditions micropile of gemmule open and then archyocysts released and form new sponge from each sponge.
⏩ gemmule formation is also reported in some marine sponges.

✨ Gemmule - An asexually produced mass of cells, which are capable of developing into a new organism or into an adult freshwater sponge is termed as a Gemmule.

⭕ Formation - Gemmule is produced by few genus of freshwater sponges such as Spongilla and some marine species including ficulina ficus, sea sponges, and other poriferans, which produces gemmules to survive in the unfavorable conditions and to germinate and produce new sponges.

⭐ Gemmules are usually found in a round or a ball-like structure, along with a central mass of amoeboid cells and a thick peripheral layer of a small siliceous spicule.
