Chromosomes are rod like structures visible only during cell division. Chromosomes contain information for inheritance of characters from parents to offsprings in form of DNA.(Deoxyribo Nucleic acid) and organising cells i.e. genes. Genes contain our heriditary information which are passed down from parents to their off springs
