Consider the sequence... 2, 6, 18, 54, . . . . Here, each term in the sequence is 3 times the previous term. And in the sequence 1, −2, 4, −8, . . . , each term is −2 times the previous term. Sequences such as these are called geometric progressions, or GPs for short.
