Geothermal energy is thermal energy generate and stored in earth. Thermal energy is the energy that determines the temperature of matter. The geothermal energy of the earth's crust originated from the original formation of plants and from radioactive decay of mattarials (in currently and uncertain but possible roughly equal proportion).
