Geotropism is the growth of the parts of plants in response to the force of gravity. The upward growth of shoots shows negative geotropism where as the downward growth of roots shows positive geotropism.

Gravitropism is a coordinated process of differential growth by a plant or fungus in response to gravity pulling on it. Gravity can be either "artificial gravity" or natural gravity. It is a general feature of all higher and many lower plants as well as other organisms.
