Importance of the way in which they were portrayed:

(i) Marianne was seen in a red cap, the tricolour and the arcade. The statues of Marianne were erected in public squares to remind the public of the national symbol of unity.

(ii) Germania became the allegory of the German nation. Germania wears a crown of oak leaves as German Oak stands for heroism. It was hung from the ceiling of St Paul's Church, where the Frankfurt parliament was convened, to symbolise the liberal revolution.
