Global Warming is used to describe the phenomenon of gradual heating of earth due to the presence of greenhouse gases in its atmosphere, like methane, carbon dioxide, water vapours. These gases form a blanket like structure on the outside which traps the heat supplied to earth by the sun by reflecting it back to earth. They are really helpful when present in appropriate amounts as they help to keep the temperature of earth warm enough so that life can sustain on it, even when no sunlight falls on it. But in excess, they continue to heat up earth's atmosphere which results in the melting of ice caps at poles, causing sea levels to rise and gradually heating up the land in which we may not be able to survive.

Hope I helped ☺☻
