Global warming is a prolonged process by which the temperature in the atmosphere increases thereby melting the ice caps in the polar region. The climatic changes like increased heat, changing climate etc are reasoned to be the effects of global warming.

Explanation :

Global warming joins the greenhouse effect to make things worse further by heating up the atmosphere.

The effects are tremendous as this temperature rise melts the ice in the polar region thereby increasing the water levels in sea, ocean and other water bodies.
