Our earth is surrounded by atmosphere which contains certain gases which do not allow to escape the earth's heat into the space. Thus, they maintain the temperature of earth. When the concentration of these gases increase (especially methane and carbon dioxide ) the temperature of the earth gradually increase. Thus ,the gradually increase in the temperature of earth is called global warming.
Hope it helps! !
