Global warming is the result of burning of carbon fuels like wood and petroleum. These fuels release carbon dioxide which is responsible for trapping infrared radiation from the sun and not allowing it to escape from Earth's surface . The presence of extra heat increases the surface temperature of earth resulting in global warming. The impact of this phenomenon is the melting of polar ice caps, which in turn results in increasing sea levels and hence floods in coastal areas.
