Heya!!

Carbon dioxide absorbs and traps the terrestrial radiation and radiates it back to the Earth. Increase in the amount of carbon dioxide in the air leads to more heat being trapped on the Earth’s surface. This leads to an increase in the temperature of the Earth’s surface and the layer of atmosphere in contact with it. This warming of the Earth is called global warming. Burning of fossil fuels like coal and petroleum add carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, which contributes to global warming.
