Ninety seven per cent of the Earth's water is saline and is found in oceans and seas. Two per cent of the total amount of water is frozen fresh water. This exists in the form of polar ice caps and snow on high mountains. Hence, only one per cent of fresh water is available for use. This signifies the importance of preserving our fresh water resources.
