The glomerulus is highly coiled and has an extensive network of blood vessels. The blood containing nitrogenous waste(urine) entering it is under high pressure. Both useful and harmul components are filtered out into the tubule. The blood returns to the tubule and reabsorbs the useful components such as water, glucose etc. This is how the initial filtrate of 180litres is reduced to 1 or 2litres per day.
