The gold foil experiment was performed by Rutherford. he passed a beams of alpha particles through a gold foil of gold , silver and platinum. Then some of the alpha particles passed the gold foil without any deflection. some of the alpha particles deflected through a small angle and some deflected through a larger angle greater than 90°.
