Golgi apparatus -

It occurs in the form of granules, filaments, rods that are supposed to be originated from the endoplasmic reticulum.

It contains flattened membrane, disc-shaped in a sac like called cristae.

It contains many small vesicles of different shapes .

These are generally located near the nucleus .

It has membrane us walls which some minute vesicles and vacuoles.

Functions of Golgi apparatus -

It helps in the secretion and packaging of proteins.

It receives proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum.

It packages proteins into its membrane oeis walls which are then transported to various destination , such as lysosomes, plasma membrane etc.

It also takes part in the transport of lipids such as glycolipids, sphingomyelin, etc.

It also takes part in the formation of lysosomes and in the formation of acrosome of sperm.
