Gobind Sagar lake is a man made reservoir built in 1976; its source is the hydel dam at Bhakra. One of the world's highest gravity dams, the Bhakra dam is perched at an elevation of 225.5 m above its lowest foundations. Its reservoir - the Gobind Sagar - is 90 kms long and encompasses an area of approximately 170 sq kms.

Hope it helps.
