So basically Gram's staining is all about staining bacteria firstly with crystal violet or gentian violet and then treating them with iodine solution followed by washing with water and alcohol.

Bacteria which retain bluish-violet stain are Gram(+) bacteria while which do not , Gram(-) bacteria.
