once there was a very popular discipline of Mahatma Gandhi. His name was Vinoba Bhave, he was his spiritual hier and after the death of Mahatma Gandhi he lead place to place spreading his teachings, and one day many eraser came to Vinoba Bhave as they were landless and demanded for land. vinoba Bhave didn't committed that he would surely give them land but said that he would talk about it to government, later on a large land owner, gave his land of 80 acers to 80 farmers, Vinoba Bhave called this as bhoodan and when many other village owner give their village this was known as Gramdan as gram is called village.

this both together, was called mahadan by Vinoba Bhave.
