tremendous increase in grain production due to use of fertilizers, pesticides ,modern farming techniques is called green revolution

The green revolution in  the late 1960s introduced the Indian farmer to cultivation of wheat and rice using HYVs of seeds. However, these needed plenty of water, chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
