Green revolution was a plan that increased the total production of land with the help of new HYV seeds that promised more grains on the same plant. However these HYV seeds need more chemical fertilisers and water for good growth.

It was introduced in India for the first time in late 1960s in the region of Punjab,Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh.
