green revolution is a term given ti high yiding varities of seed( i.e hyv seeds) and the increasing the use fertilizers and manures and irrigation which provided the increasing in production of crops and neededto make india a self - sufficient country and to improve agriculture in india

India has suffered with two wars between the years 1962 and 65 and 1965,66 are declared as drought years so India started it's second phase in agriculture with a new method called GREEN REVOLUTION. India has changed the means of agriculture during second phase. Govt introduced new farming methods using HYV's and chemical fertilizers. It was very successful and brought many profits to farmers but later it became a curse to farmers as farmers used lots of chemical fertilizers soil fertility decreased and ground water level decreased as HYV's need huge amounts of water
