Green Revolution was the time when the production of food grains rose very rapidly.

Two achievements of Green Revolution :- 1. The rise in the production of food grains made India self sufficient in food grains.
2. The surplus food grains can be sold or stored for future. If any natural calamity occurs, it can be used at that time.

Two drawbacks of Green Revolution :- 1. It gave a rapid rise in the use of chemical fertilisers, which led to the lose of fertility in the soil.
2. Excessive use of tube wells can lower the water table.

The green revolution is defined as a process of increasing the production of grains mainly paddy and wheat. It was termed a revolution as the time it was implemented was the time when the farmers were suffering due to less or no production at all. With the green revolution, the high-yielding seeds were a great success in the market and thus increased the production of agriculture. India especially benefitted from such a revolution. States like Punjab and Calcutta were extremely benefitted by such a resolution and quickly adapted it.

2. The two achievements of the Green Revolution in Indian Agriculture are as follows:-

  • The production of crops increased in the entire country due to the green revolution.
  • One of the most eminent achievements was that it decreased the unemployment rate in India and managed to give jobs to every person in rural areas.

3. The two drawbacks of Green Revolution are as follows:-

  • Even though, it increased the productivity, it hampered the the soil quality which eventually resulted into pollution.
  • Another drawback was that, it was also the reason behind the regional differences between the farmers in India.
