The Green Revolution of 1960s changed the course of agriculture in Indian history.
The food produced was not enough to satisfy the demand and the land available for agriculture was limited. So, new varieties of seeds which had greater yield as well were resistant to pests needed to come up.
In general, we can briefly say that:
1. During the Green Revolution, agriculture became an industry.
2. Dependence upon fertilizers and pesticides increased.
3. Effect of the Green Revolution on production of food-grains was immense.
4. Quality of seeds was improved and new varieties of seeds developed.
