Greenhouse effect is a process n which the Sun's heat/ warmth gets trapped inside the Earth's atmosphere in the form of radiation due to greenhouse gases present in the atmosphere, these radiation should actually reflect back if there were no greenhouse gases.
But if there is excess greenhouse gases present in the atmosphere, then the planet will get very warm and bad effects take place, like melting of glaciers.
