(1) When gas molecules absorb light or energy, they warm up and can also re-emit this energy back to the earth's surface. Greenhouse gases trap heat, or energy, and keep it in the Earth system so that the Earth and atmosphere become warmer. Greenhouse gases absorb what scientists call infrared radiation

(2)In cold climatic conditions it is not possible to grow greenery in open areas as the temperature is very low. If we construct a house made up of glass and let the solar radiation come inside it. Sun is at a very high temperature say about 6000 degree C. So it emits shortwave radiations. Glass allows the shortwaves to pass through it. The inside mass of the house (air, or any object) gets heated up to some temperature , may be 30 degree or so depending upon the insulation and the intensity of radiation. This heat is radiated as long wave radiation (source at lower temperature). Glass is opaque for long wave radiation and it does not allows this heat to escape. That is why the inside temperature raises to some (+) 25–30 degrees even when the out side is (-)25–30 degrees. Greenery can be grown at this temperature conveniently and profitably. So this glass (or any other transparent material) house is known as green house. In no case the colour of the house is green.

hope this helped plz mark me brainlyest i really need it :)
