Explanation:

GROUND WAVE PROPAGATION

→ The process in which radio frequency propagates along the surface of the earth for the communication purpose.

→ Low frequency of electromagnetic spectrum were used

→ Also called surface wave propagation.

→ Collection of these radiation along the surface of the earth is known as ground wave propagation.

→ Intensity of radiations drops with distance due to its absorption by ground.

PROPERTIES OF GROUND WAVE PROPAGATION

Ground waves can be direct, be ground reflected, or follow the surface. To achieve an optimal propagating result with a surface wave, you must use vertical polarization. That is the reason why long and medium wave radio stations use self-radiating, vertical transmitting masts as their antennas.

Ground wave propagation

Explanation:

  • Ground wave propagation is a type of radio propagation which is also called a surface wave. These waves propagate over the earth's surface in low and medium frequencies. These are mostly used for transmission between the surface of the earth and the ionosphere. These are create by the number of constituent waves.
  • So, in the ground wave propagation, the two antennas (i.e., transmitting and receiving) put down in the ground allow propagation of the signal in the form of electromagnetic waves through the earth’s surface.

Two Properties of Ground Wave Propagation :

  • The factor of large wavelength supports well organized bending thereby causing less attenuation.
  • The signal loss because of atmospheric conditions is less.
