what is guatation and a neat labelled diagram of guatation
Answers
Explanation:
Oozing out of water from the margins of the leaves in the form of water droplets is called guttation. It takes place during the night and the secreted water has minerals dissolved in it. For example, guttation is shown by the leaves of tomato, some grasses, and oat. There are hydathodes on the margins of the leaves of these plants which have ends of veins (tracheids).
The hydathodes are made of inactive guard cells having a cavity underneath. The cavity is surrounded from all sides by special parenchymatous cells called Epithem. These cells take water from the xylem to release it outside in the form of drops of water.
