Well it is a peritoneal fold around the testes. Peritonium is like a mother to abdominal viscera, it just wants to cover all of them. The importance of peritoneal fold lies in its vasculature, because through these folds blood supply enters into most of the abdominal viscera.

Gubernaculum

It is the fibromuscular band, which helps in descent of the testes from the abdominal cavity to the scrotum, via the inguinal canal. Thus, our testicles follow the path shown by the gubernaculum, and find their destiny in the scrotum.
