What is gyrase and what is it's role in DNA replication?

gyrase is an essential bacterial enzyme that catalyse the ATP dependent negative supercoiling of double-stranded closed circular DNA it belongs to a class of enzymes known as topoisomerases that I involved in the control of topological transition of DNA.
