The explanation of the given illustrations,in terms of electricity,are as follows -

• In the first illustration,a simple application of static electricity is shown. When a balloon is rubbed with our hair,the electrons from our hair jumps out from our hair to the surface of the balloon. In this way, our hair becomes positively charged and the balloon becomes negatively charged. And due to the positive-negative attraction,our hair gets attracted by that balloon.

• On the other hand,the lightning strike is explained. As shown in the diagram,the negative charges are concentrated into the bottom part of the cloud and the ground is filled with positively charged. And again due to the negative-positive attraction,the lightning strike hits the ground.
