The correct answer is  option (a) 1/385

Given:

\frac{1}{5}, \frac{2}{7} and \frac{3}{11}

To find:

HCF of \frac{1}{5}, \frac{2}{7} and \frac{3}{11}

Solution:

  • HCF means Highest Common Factor
  • HCF of two numbers is the highest factor which can divide the given numbers, evenly.
  • For fractions like \frac{a}{e}, \frac{b}{f} and \frac{c}{g} the HCF is given by

                    HCF(a, b, c) / LCM(e,f,g)

Given fractions  \frac{1}{5}, \frac{2}{7} and \frac{3}{11}

HCF ( \frac{1}{5}, \frac{2}{7}, \frac{3}{11} ) = HCF(1,2,3) / LCM(5,7,11)

⇒  HCF(1,2,3) = 1

⇒  LCM(5,7,11) = 5 × 7× 11 = 385

HCF ( \frac{1}{5}, \frac{2}{7}, \frac{3}{11} ) =  1/385

The correct answer is  option (a) 1/385
