The Human Development Index (HDI) is a statistic composite index of life expectancy, education, and per capita income indicators, which are used to rank countries into four tiers of human development.
Older versions of the HDI were calculated using the following indicators: Health - Life expectancy at birth. Education - measured by adult literacy and the combined primary, secondary and tertiary enrolment ratio. Income - measured by GDP per capita.
