It is mesodermally derived organ . It is protected by a double membranous bag called pericardium . Heart is the main pumping organ of our body . It pumps blood so as for it to reach the whole body .

Functioning of heart is complex like any organ in our body

Evry organ is stimulated by brain or it sends signal for any organ to function but heart functions on it own . It is called myogenic because of that . there are cardiac muscles, SA node , AV node , bundle of his , purkinje fibers which help heart .

Firstly the electric signal is generated by SA node in the right auricle it goes on to the AV node and further carried on by the above mentioned fibers .

There also are some hormones which regulate the function .

And the concentration of CO2 also plays a part .

HUMAN HEART :

》Human Heart is mesodermal in origin.

》It is located in the thoracic cavity between the lungs.

》It is protected by pericardium which is a double walled membrane enclosing pericardial fluid.

》Our heart consists of four chambers - two upper chambers called atria and two lower chambers called ventricles.

》A thick walled septum called the inter-ventricular septum separates the left and right ventricles.

》A thin septum called inter-atrial septum separates right and left atria.

》Atrioventricular septum separates the atria and the ventricle of the same side.

》Bicuspid Valve regulates the opening between the left atrium and left ventricle.

》Tricuspid Valve regulates the opening between the right atrium and right ventricle.

FUNCTION :

● The function of Heart is to pump oxygenated blood to all the parts of our body and also to pump the deoxygenated blood from lungs to heart.
