HEAT

Heat is a form of energy, that is transferred from one body to another, due to another, due to existence of a temperature difference between between them.

Effects of Heat

  • Physical change.
  • Chemical change.

Physical Change

Change in temperature:

We all know that addition, or removal, of heat to, from, a body brings about a change in it's temperature.

Change in state:

Under appropriate conditions, addition, or removal, of heat to, or from, a body, can also bring about a change in it's State.

Thermal expansion:

Most of solids, liquids and gasses, are known to expand on heating. This phenomenon is called thermal expansion.

Chemical Change

Many chemical changes take place only when the reactants are heated up.
