Heat is a from of energy that flows one body to another when there is a difference in the temperature. The temperature indicates the degree of hotness or coldness of a body or place. Therefore ,heat is a from of energy which causes the sensation of hotness and coldness.Temperature is measured with a thermometer.in this chapter we shall discuss about the heat and temperature. when it is very cold usually one rubs his/her hands or go outside in the sun or sits near a roomheater. why? because it warms the body.It is due to a from of energy called heat. heat is a very important from of energy and most living beings need this energy to live. the sun is a source of heat on the earth.heat is measured in joules. Its non -SI unit is calorie. Mathematically,1 cal = 4.184 joule. since heat is the transfer of energy from a hotter body to a cooler body. how do we know that whether an object is hot or cool? sometimes the sense of touch can be used to understand the degree of hotness or coldness but it is not reliable and cannot be always used to say how much hot is anything. moreover, using the sense of touch can be risky when an object is very hot. thus hotness of any object is measured in terms of temperature in a reliable way.
