current flows from the positive terminal to the negative current. heat is also the same. heating effect means heating the current. for eg:geyser. the water in the tap gets heated because of the heating effect of the geyser.

hope it helps

When electric current is passed through a metallic wire (or any high resistant conductor), the filament gets heated up and electric energy is converted into heat energy. This is called heating effect of current. The factors that affect the production of heat in a conductor (like wire) through which an electric current flows are the length and thickness of the wire, the duration of flow of current, and the material of the wire.An electric bulb also works on the heating effect of electric current. Some other appliances which work on the heating effect of current are- electric room heater, geyser, electric stove, electric iron, hair dryer etc.
