Heron was born in about 10AD possibly in Alexandria of Egypt.As we all know he was genius in maths so he worked in applied maths.He can solve any problems of maths and physical subjects.He is considered be an encylopedic writer on these fields.He was genius in construction work also so his geometrical works deal largely with problems on mensuration written in 3 books.Book 1 deals with area of squares,rectangles,triangle,trapezium,the regular polygons,cones,cylinders etc.So,in this book,Heron has derived a formula which is very famous for the area of a triangle in terms of three sides.

The formula given by Heron about the area of triangle commonly known as Hero's formula.
