What is Heterosis and Hybrid Vigour?

The increased Vigour of first felial generation over the mean of the parents or over the better parent is known as heterosis or hybrid Vigour. This Vigour is expressed when unrelated animals are mated.Heterosis is the most profitable way of commercial broiler production. The term hybrid Vigour and Heterosis are used synonymously. A more usage refers to developed superiority of hybrids as hybrid Vigour and to the mechanism by which the superiority is developed as Heterosis.
